With the launch of the Halo: Reach multiplayer trailer the hype wagon has truly stepped into a new gear. I think many will agree that the trailer gave us what we were looking for and heaps more. So, Halo’s biggest rival is without doubt Modern Warfare 2. Here are five reasons why MW2 players may see their lobbies a little depleted upon the beta and release date.
Reason 1: Community
We all know how well Modern Warfare 2 sold, and some of us will wonder, how come nobody plays this game using tactics or their headset? Well, the answer is to do with both consoles: Xbox’s Party Chat and Playstation’s general anti-social behaviour, one thing I noticed when playing Halo 3 was the ability to talk to people and the amount of people who were actually willing to spark a decent conversation with you. Seeing as COD now has its own fanbase, I believe Halo will keep its own as it was. Bungie also have a great reputation for playing with regular people, often staff will drop into a game or host their own open matches, this always adds to the sense that the developer cares. Last reason for the community section is that it is very, very unlikely that Halo fans will boycott this game. It’s more than evident that Bungie provides a much better community for its users, so rather than pretending to boycott this game, you won’t have to at all.
Reason 2: Jetpacks
Upon the announcement of the ultra impressive multiplayer trailer that Halo Reach will feature jetpacks. Not only will this totally transform combat into a vertical space, it will also mean gunplay will reach the skies like never seen before. Capture the Flag becomes a whole new ball game, will future multiplayer maps rocket into the sky hundreds of feet? It’s early to tell, but the last time I checked Modern Warfare 2 didn’t have anything interesting like that. Oh and before you MW2 bitches start saying how unrealistic Halo is. How the hell do you believe Modern Warfare 2 is realistic, it’s one of the most unrealistic shooters and that cannot be argued.
Reason 3: SPARTANS!
Battlefield Bad Company 2 got it right when it said ‘they will probably just send pussy ass spec ops with heartbeat monitors.’ Sure, the SAS are cool, but I would much rather have a big ass suit of Mjolnir armour and a Plasma Sword than a skimpy black cat suit and a silenced MP5. We also feel that if you’re not going to play a realistic game (CODMW2 is not realistic) then why pretend to be realistic? Some will argue that the armour replenishing system of Halo deteriorates the gameplay, we disagree heavily. In fact if anything the self-replenishing shield not only makes you use the best weapons at your disposal, it also adds an extra layer of strategy to the game. For instance the plasma gun to battle rifle combo (shield down & kill.) My final point for this reason is the armour customization, not many generic terrorists in Halo are there?
Reason 4: Flips & Assasinations
New to Halo Reach is the introduction of flips and assasinations. Not only can you flip your Spartans off high mounts to avoid that sniper fire, you can also take down your enemies in the way doesn’t involve a standard pussy arsed melee attack. Though hardly original, Bungie has added to the enjoyment of taking that stealth kill, with its assassination feature anyone for a blade through the gut? Yes please!
Reason 5: Fun Factor
After a little while, Modern Warfare 2 got boring for me, I’m not too sure if this was because I was using the same five or six guns for every game, or because of it’s repetitive gameplay and the lack of fun modes that were included in Call of Duty 4. With vehicles to smash into each other (better than the used and abused tanks of CoD: WaW) and the ‘forge’ game mode, the sheer fun factor that I had with Halo 3 is something I am expecting to get from Reach. As I previously mentioned, Bungie playing with regular people was also a laugh, especially if they got their asses handed to them…
We could go on and on about how many more reasons why this game is looking to completely pwn MW2 when it comes to multi-player but we wouldn’t want ardent Infinity Ward fans to get all butt-hurt now would we? Well, in my opinion, both CoD and Halo are great games but MW2 definitely was a piece of shit. Sure it is a very popular game now and Halo is occasionally played but given it being 3 years old I would say not bad and the point is, Halo 3 now still beats CoD 4 and CoD 5 if you try doing some research. MW2 is just like 9 or 10 months old and it seems that it is dying and MW2 literally takes no skill compared to Halo as all you have to do is just spray 1 to 6-8 bullets in a person so where is the skill? You have to “spray” like 12 bullets in halo and most of the time more and snipers and melees are not one hit kill unlike CoD where snipers and melees are one hit kill which is extremely irritating as you do not have a chance to fight back unless your opponents are complete tards. In Halo, if you’re good, I would say I can practically own many noobs in Halo as mainly its just the skill of the BR but MW2 even a handgun can own an assault rifle like what is that shit man. Sure the Magnum in Halo can own a Battle Rifle but it takes a lot of skill. Think about that MW2 Fanboys. Cod 4 and 5 were good games but MW2 is just terribly made and unbalanced. Many games can be compared but comparing FPS games, I would say Halo is just fantastic.
I was a massive fan of HALO 3… but having gotten used to COD4 i just couldnt play HALO anymore as it felt SSSOOOOOOOoooooo slow and the the control of your sluggish seemed sluggish and unresponsive.
In terms of MW2 i feel this is a fantastic game! This review says its not realistic..? WHY NOT? I’ve never been in a war zone but i imagine its going to be quite close..?
Also… 1 shot kills…? I remember from playing HALO the grav hammer and shot gun where 1 shot kills…? As was the power sword?

“unrealistic…cannot be argued” That’s a ridiciously pretentious statement to make. “Realism” is not 1 or zero, it’s not black and white. Clearly a video game isn’t going to be 100% realistic. But if you can’t see the difference between MW2′s style and Halo’s running around in blue and red suits with guns that shoot spitwads, you’re either stupid or completely biased. You’re comparing an intense, addictive shooter in MW2 (capable of making people as passionate about it as you are) to a casual and simplistic shooter. There’s not enough depth to halo to keep the masses coming back for more. Watch, people will get bored and begin to migrate back to MW2, and then to blackops. At that point the hype for reach will be gone and it will be sitting where halo 3/ODST was with MW2; something to play on the side.

here are the facts, halo 3>cod4 in population, waw came out, so Halo3>cod4 and waw together, mw2 came out, so Halo3>MW2 and waw population, even with 2 years and 9 months old, halo 3 still pwned all cods out there, now picture this in ur shitty head: halo 3 and halo reach, in the first week, reach 4x the playtime of halo 3 in its first week, mw2 population went down from 300k players a day before reach came out, to 100k the day reach came out, wanna know how many people were on reach, the FIRST day, more than 700k, get fucked mw2.

I recall you saying ” running around in blue and red suits and shooting spitwads” I don’t disagree with the fact that MW2 was a great game but after playing call of duty for a few days I always found myself going back to halo 3. ModernWarfare2 was good but the multiplayer gets very repititive and spec ops is boring. Halo’s forge and custom games modes, is what kept Halo 3 alive until Reach came out. and I hate to say it but Halo does require ALOT more skill to play than modern warfare2 . I can run around a map in Modern warfare with a UMP45 and have Stopping Power as a perk and get more than 30 kills per game and then level up in say an hour. You can’t do that in halo. In halo you need good aim and a strategy. I saw my friends 5 year old nephew get a game winning kill in mw2. The only “custom games” that are in modernware fare are Cops and robbers, and Michael myers. Both of which get extremely boring after playing 15 rounds. Modernwarfare can be fun if your new to FPS’s but if you want to play something legit, try halo.
All games in the world are unrealistic but there is games that more realistic than other games. So far if you look and compare Halo and COD series you will see that first COD was on planet earth not some other planet form different galaxy, COD 1,2,3 were all kind of real because they were real wars. Now Halo in some planet and use laser guns which they didn’t even make as a concept yet, no one old enough have even thought about laser guns yet. Now you look at COD guns all of them are real, some the guns in MW2 are still being tested but they are real, some people have used them before, like the SCAR-H which still being tested but some soldier have used it and they loved it. melee attack you called it gay, i think its better than running up to some one and keep hitting them with your gun like you do in Halo and you have to do it 2-3 times till you kill him unless he runs away and shoot you. Not only that people in Halo always bunny up, ALWAYS!!!!!!!, and that makes it gay.So far you would know that i am a big COD fan but that doesn’t mean that i don’t know what i am talking about like some other COD fans. I have played Halo 1,3, and ODST the best so far. I didn’t get reach and i don’t think i will, but Reach didn’t sell as much as MW2 did in its week or even first day. Is there more people playing Halo reach now i think so,its a new game with new weapons and maps and like you said JETPACKS(way to be real there). But MW2 got little bit less, and it is almost two years since the game came out in 2009 and it made over 1billion dollars in sales so it is a big success. To tell you the truth am starting just a little bit to get board of MW2 and it is normal, but i know black ops coming out soon and i will get that. Now if you play Halo as much as i play MW2 you would get board of Halo too, even if it was Reach because after a while a game gets to be old and boring.
