Retarded isn’t the word…super retarded is

Courtesy of the guys at 1UP.com we wake up on this gloomy Friday morning to something quite frankly hilarious. It has been revealed that a group of Sonic-fans have decided to go forth and boycott the DLC based Sonic 4. According to them on the basis of the leaked footage alone they believe it to look nothing more than a HD remake of Sonic Rush as opposed to a continuation of the Sonic series. Sure, Sega have decided to take the HD route unlike Capcom did with Megaman so in respect I can understand some retro purists not particularly liking that decision but the idiocy comes from the fact that instead of boycotting the release all together, they are going to plough money back into Sega and buy the originals all over again.

“Fans of the sonic series are like most sega fans, we want their old games brought back to the glory days when sega was pretty much the power in video games. Seeing the gameplay of sonic 4 has made many of us realize what we already knew, Sonic 4 will simply not be anywhere near as good as the original sonic games. Either way, We will decide to finally show sega what the fans truly want. A real sonic 4, as long as sonic 4 stays the way it is, we will not buy it, we will in fact buy sonic 1 on release in protest of sonic 4, till we end up with a re tool, or change, we want sonic in hd, not sonic RUSH HD. We will not buy a future sonic game, till we get a true successor to sonic 1/2″

Excuse the spelling above, it’s a direct quote. So, let’s take a step back for a minute. To punish a company, you boycott them, what boycott means is basically to stop buying their product and advocate others not to buy it either. Instead these super-retards with a big S on their chests have decided to not punish Sega but instead put money in their coughers. Have they not looked at previous gaming boycotts like L4D2 and MW2 and learned that if you are going to boycott something at least make it seem full proof. We know you will end up going out and buying the game anyway as history shows.

What is annoying about the whole thing is that this has a negative impact of Sonic fans as a whole. They are already cornered into being an eccentric over-excitable collector whores whom quiver at every spike on the hedgehog’s back, let’s not make them look even more idiotic by creating a Boycott petition that makes as much sense as fucking a needle waste bin. For the most part we’re fans of Sonic but can’t help but get squeamish at when another title is announced as history has shown pretty much since Sonic Adventure and Sonic CD they have all sucked, with the exception of the GBA and DS versions of the game.
