Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Announced

After Ubisoft trademarked the title “Ghost Recon: Future Soldier” late last year, the announcement for a new Ghost Recon game was inevitable and the expected event finally happened today.

Ubisoft’s team in Paris is developing the project and hope to have the game ready for a late 2010 release this year. Ubisoft released a quote saying “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience, with an unparalleled level of quality that will excite long-time fans and newcomers alike.” Unparalleled level of quality huh? I have my doubts…

The other main announcement was that if you purchase Ubisofts upcoming game Splinter Cell: Conviction, which releases on 16 April 2010, you will be given an access code for a Ghost Recon: Future Soldier multiplayer beta, said to arrive this summer. A tasty added incentive to pick up what already looks like a promising game!

I for one am looking forward to a new Ghost Recon game as I loved the Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter titles, but I can’t help but be a bit worried about the “Future Soldier” title.
