Dean Case On October - 25 - 2009

Yesterday at MCM I managed to speak to Al from 2K games briefly and get a pretty good interview about the future games from them, other than of course the amazing Borderlands (both me and James just picked it up, so it’s a race for a review.) This was originally a recorded interview, however, my camera was incredibly low on battery and the quality of the audio was pretty shocking, so I wrote up the entire thing, and here it is.

bioshock 2K Games interview, Mafia 2 and Bioshock 2.

WDT: Hi, this is Dean from Wedotech.net and I’m here with Al from 2k games, and he’s going to say a few words about the future of the company, and which games will be releasing in the future. So Al, Borderlands is definitely a must buy for me now I’ve had a hands on with it, but, after playing the original Bioshock and seeing the trailer for Bioshock 2 here today, I’m incredibly excited about the game, and was wondering if you could tell us a bit more about it.

Al: Well, Bioshock 2 takes place before the events of the first game, and really concentrates on you as the player seeing the fall of rapture, playing as a prototype big daddy, and being able to test all of the plasmids as well as using lots of the weapons we got to see in the original. I really think that Bioshock 2 will pack a punch, us at 2k Games certainly are incredibly excited about this one.

mafia2 1 2K Games interview, Mafia 2 and Bioshock 2.

WDT: So, Mafia 2 is a game that lots of fans of the original, much like bioshock, are looking forward to, will the game be a follow on from the original story, or will it take a whole different approach?

Al: Mafia 2 takes place in the same universe as the original game, but in a different city. You will be playing as a new character who was born and raised very close to the streets and sent off to fight in World War 2. On his return, his brother has several ‘business’ opportunities set up for the future, but unlike games like The Godfather, Mafia 2 doesn’t see you trying to rise up and control the city as a Don, its more about the fun side of being in the mafia, and the guns, girls, cars and booze are certainly one of the main factors of the game, making it much less serious, but still an enjoyable experience.

WDT: Thanks for talking to us Al, and apologies for having to cut this interview short, I need to go and pick up my copy of Borderlands.

Short but sweet I think 2K are going to do very well with what we have seen

so far.
